What this code means
E16: Door is not locked properly

The machine cannot confirm the door is locked, so it will not start. Something trapped in the door, or a load pushing against it, is the usual story.

Common causes

What to check, in order

  1. Open the door, clear the seal, and close it firmly until it clicks.
  2. Take out a few items if the drum is overfilled.
  3. If the door shuts cleanly and the code persists, the lock itself is the likely fault.
Safety first. Switch the machine off and unplug it before cleaning filters or moving hoses. Expect water to come out when you open a pump filter; keep a tray and towel ready. If you are not comfortable with any step, stop and call a technician.
