What this code means

E33: Too much foam from detergent

The machine is dealing with foam, not a breakdown. Too much detergent, or the wrong type, has filled the drum with suds and the machine pauses to manage it.

Too much detergent
Non-HE or hand-wash detergent in the machine
Detergent residue built up over time

What to check, in order

Let the machine finish its foam-handling routine, or run a rinse and spin.
Reduce the dose and use detergent made for washing machines.
Run a maintenance wash empty at a high temperature to clear residue.

Safety first. Switch the machine off and unplug it before cleaning filters or moving hoses. Expect water to come out when you open a pump filter; keep a tray and towel ready. If you are not comfortable with any step, stop and call a technician.
