3E: Motor fault

The control board is not seeing the motor run correctly. Causes range from an overloaded drum to a worn motor or a wiring problem, and most are not beginner repairs.

What to check, in order

  1. Switch off, unplug, and check the drum turns freely by hand.
  2. Remove part of the load if the drum was packed solid.
  3. Plug back in and try a spin cycle once.
  4. If the code comes straight back, stop retrying: the motor circuit needs professional testing.
Safety first. Switch the machine off and unplug it before cleaning filters or moving hoses. Expect water to come out when you open a pump filter; keep a tray and towel ready. If you are not comfortable with any step, stop and call a technician.
