Samsung Washing Machine Error Code 8E
Call a professional
What this code means
8E: Sensor or control communication error
The washer's sensors and control boards are not communicating correctly. On many models 8C/8E points at the vibration (MEMS) sensor; AC/AE codes point at communication between boards.
Also shown as: 8C, AE, AC
Common causes
- Loose wiring connector after the machine vibrated heavily
- Failed vibration sensor
- Control board fault
- Power surge corrupting a cycle
What to check, in order
- Unplug the machine for 2 to 3 minutes and restart; surge-related codes often clear.
- Make sure the machine is level so it is not shaking connectors loose.
- If the code returns on every cycle, a technician needs to test the sensor and boards.
Safety first. Switch the machine off and unplug it before cleaning filters or moving hoses. Expect water to come out when you open a pump filter; keep a tray and towel ready. If you are not comfortable with any step, stop and call a technician.
