Samsung Washing Machine Error Code OC
DIY checks first
What this code means
OC: Water has overflowed
The tub has filled beyond the safe level. The machine stops to prevent flooding. A one-off can be a glitch; a repeating overflow points at the inlet valve or the water level sensor.
Also shown as: OE, OF, E3
Common causes
- Water inlet valve stuck open
- Water level (pressure) sensor fault
- Drain hose fitted so low that water siphons out and the machine keeps refilling
- Too much foam confusing the level sensing
What to check, in order
- Turn the water taps off if the machine is still filling.
- Restart the machine and run a spin cycle to empty the tub.
- Check the drain hose is not pushed far down a floor drain, which can cause siphoning.
- If it overfills again on the next cycle, book a repair: the valve or sensor needs testing.
Safety first. Switch the machine off and unplug it before cleaning filters or moving hoses. Expect water to come out when you open a pump filter; keep a tray and towel ready. If you are not comfortable with any step, stop and call a technician.
