What this code means
tE: Water temperature sensor fault

The temperature sensor (thermistor) is giving readings outside the expected range, or no reading at all. Wash cycles that need heated water will usually stop.

Common causes

What to check, in order

  1. Turn the power off for a few minutes and restart; a one-off glitch can clear.
  2. Try a cold wash: if cold cycles run fine, the sensing circuit is confirmed as the problem area.
  3. Sensor testing and replacement is a technician job on most models.
Safety first. Switch the machine off and unplug it before cleaning filters or moving hoses. Expect water to come out when you open a pump filter; keep a tray and towel ready. If you are not comfortable with any step, stop and call a technician.
