PC: Clutch position not detected (top-load models)

On top-load models with a clutch motor, the washer cannot confirm the clutch has moved to the right position for washing or spinning.

Common causes

What to check, in order

  1. Restart the machine once after switching the power off for a minute.
  2. If the code returns, the clutch motor circuit needs professional testing; there is no user adjustment for it.
Safety first. Switch the machine off and unplug it before cleaning filters or moving hoses. Expect water to come out when you open a pump filter; keep a tray and towel ready. If you are not comfortable with any step, stop and call a technician.
