FF: Freeze failure: frozen water path

FF appears when freezing temperatures have frozen the tub, hoses or drain path so the washer cannot operate. It is a winter condition, not a broken part, unless something cracked.

What to check, in order

  1. Pour warm (not boiling) water into the drum and let it sit to thaw the tub and drain hose.
  2. Thaw hoses gently and check for splits afterwards.
  3. Restart once everything moves freely, and watch the first cycle for leaks.
Safety first. Switch the machine off and unplug it before cleaning filters or moving hoses. Expect water to come out when you open a pump filter; keep a tray and towel ready. If you are not comfortable with any step, stop and call a technician.
