What this code means
OE: Drain error: water is not draining out
The washer could not empty the water within the expected time. Start with the pump filter and drain hose; a coin or button in the filter is the classic cause.
Common causes
- Drain pump filter clogged
- Drain hose kinked, blocked or frozen
- Drain hose end pushed too deep into the standpipe
- Drain pump failure
What to check, in order
- Turn the power off. On front-load models, drain the remaining water through the small hose by the pump filter, then clean the filter.
- Straighten the drain hose and flush it through.
- Check the hose is not inserted so far into the standpipe that it siphons or blocks.
- Run a spin cycle to test. A humming pump that moves no water usually needs replacing.
Safety first. Switch the machine off and unplug it before cleaning filters or moving hoses. Expect water to come out when you open a pump filter; keep a tray and towel ready. If you are not comfortable with any step, stop and call a technician.
